Is hypnosis safe?

Yes! Hypnosis is a very natural state that we pass through everyday without realising. The hypnotic state is very beneficial to your health and very relaxing. However, it is recommended that you do not attempt to hypnotize people suffering from severe depression or mental illness.

What happens if I can not wake my volunteer from the trance state?

Don't worry, getting stuck in trance is a myth! It is impossible to become 'stuck' in hypnosis, even if you were to hypnotize somebody to a very deep level of trance and then leave them alone they would either wake after a few moments or, if they are very tired, fall asleep and awake in the usual manner once refreshed.

How long does it take to learn hypnosis?

This will depend on a number of factors, the most important, surprisingly, is not you... but the people that you are able to practise on. Everyone can enter hypnosis, but some find it more difficult than others. If the people you practise your techniques on are good at entering trance, you can expect relatively instant success. If they are not, you will need to spend more time developing your skills or find other people to practise on to be successful.

Can I make people do absolutely anything I want?

The short answer to this is no. You will not be able to make someone commit an act that is against their moral judgment or religious beliefs. However, do not put this to the test! For instance, murder may very well be against your morals, but your volunteer may secretly have other ideas. If you were to test your volunteer in this way, they may see this as an opportunity to commit a crime and let you take the blame, as they were under your influence! This may sound far-fetched but you should exercise common sense as to what you ask your hypnotized subject to do. If you are practising stage hypnosis you will soon discover that your volunteers seem to quickly lose their inhibitions, so in that sense hypnosis can be a little like drinking a few glasses of wine!

Can anyone be hypnotised?

Yes! But not to the same degree. Some people are naturally very good at entering trance, these are called Somnambulistic and make up around 10% of the population, others find it very hard to enter trance and the rest of us fall somewhere in-between. The good news is that if you are one of the unfortunate ones that find entering trance very difficult, you can develop this ability with practise. It is very similar to all skills, for example, some people are born gifted artists, others find drawing the simplest of objects very difficult, but with tuition and direction they can become very proficient.

Does it require any special or psychic ability to hypnotize another person?

No. In order to hypnotize another person all you need to do is talk to them. Hypnosis requires no special abilities what-so-ever. As long as you know what to say, how to say it and when, if you can talk, you can hypnotize somebody.

Will I be able to set up my own practise after studying your course?

As some countries require no formal training qualifications in order to practise hypnotherapy, it is possible to set up your own private practise. However, I strongly recommend that you do not do this until you are suitable qualified and experienced. I have included details of a hypnotherapy diploma course designed for this purpose in your materials. You should also check with your local authorities for regulations that govern the use of  hypnosis in your area.
